Juventus star Paul Pogba's agent hits back over Gary Lineker tweet

Paul Pogba's agent has hit back at Gary Lineker after he questioned whether the France star was "the world's most overrated player."

L'Equipe said on Thursday that Manchester United have begun negotiations with Juventus to sign Pogba, who is also being strongly linked with Real Madrid, in a deal that would reportedly be worth at least €100 million.

However, the midfielder has struggled to live up to his reputation at Euro 2016, and former England striker Gary Lineker had suggested the 23-year-old was overvalued in a Twitter post during France's 2-1 victory over Republic of Ireland on Sunday.

Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola, told RAI that former Leicester, Everton, Barcelona and Tottenham star Lineker, who presents the BBC's "Match of the Day" programme, was wrong to question the player's price tag.

"When somebody gets paid to give their opinion, that doesn't mean they know what they are talking about," Raiola said. "This is what has happened with Lineker. I remember him saying he would present his programme in only his underwear if [Claudio] Ranieri won the Premier League.

"Considering his quality and the prices I am seeing in Europe, Pogba is underrated. He is worth what any club is willing to pay for him."

Raiola referenced Chelsea's imminent move for Michy Batshuayi, saying: "Just look at how a player who was on the bench for Belgium and at Marseille has just moved for €40m."
