Napoli midfielder Mirko Valdifiori set to leave after one year - agent

Napoli midfielder Mirko Valdifiori is set to leave the club after only one season, according to his agent Mario Giuffridi.

Valdifiori, 30, followed Maurizio Sarri from Empoli to Napoli in the summer, but he made just six appearances as the club finished second in Serie A and is now expected to move on.

"Despite not having played a great season, I'm convinced he will be the best Italian central midfielder next season," Giuffridi told Radio CRC.

"Valdifiori played at the worst time for Napoli, at the start of the season, and he was unlucky because if Jorginho had played then, things could have gone differently.

"Now it's obvious that he wants to leave because he wants to play and I'm certain that next year he will show what he is made of and recommend himself for a place in the national team. Even if he's not played much, Valdifiori has three or four Italian clubs after him and this says it all about the lad."

Fiorentina have been linked with a move for Valdifiori, while Torino, Bologna and Sampdoria are also reportedly keeping an eye on the situation.

Giuffredi also represents Napoli defender Elseid Hysaj, who has reportedly attracted some interest from Bayern Munich.

"If I were Napoli," Giuffredi added, "I would extend and improve his contract before Euro 2016 to make him happy before any bigger clubs could come knocking."
