AC Milan need to show more aggression - Sinisa Mihajlovic

AC Milan coach Sinisa Mihajlovic says his side need to show more aggression and stop playing for just one half of their games, after the 1-0 defeat to Genoa.

A deflected free kick by Blerim Dzemaili was enough to down Milan on Sunday, who also had summer signing Alessio Romagnoli sent off just before half-time.

The Rossoneri have now won three and lost three of their matches in Serie A this season and that, according to their coach, is a fair reflection of the inconsistencies they need to eliminate.

"The truth is we're gifting one half of every game to our opponents instead of finding the right continuity," Mihajlovic said in quotes reported by Il Corriere dello Sport.

"There can be no denying that if we had played the first half like we played the second, we would have won."

Inconsistency is not the only thing that Milan need to sort out and Mihajlovic is keen to improve the club's desire on the pitch.

"Genoa played the game they wanted to play," he added. "That's because we were not aggressive. We ran and fought, but didn't have the aggression that our opponents had. And I believe that if we had done well with these aspects, in the end we wouldn't have lost all of those individual battles.

"Only when we had 10 men did we show the right degree of aggression -- which we had been lacking in the first half."

In trying to chase the game, Mihajlovic sent Carlos Bacca on to partner Luiz Adriano and Mario Balotelli up front, but he was not ultimately convinced that the three-man attack worked.

"I only sent him [Bacca] on because we were playing better with 10 men and we were creating chances," Mihajlovic said.

"It's not true that you have a stronger attack with three forwards, though. In fact, I'd say we created more with only two up there."

Mihajlovic will be expecting a response from his team when they host Napoli next weekend, with both sides together on nine points from their first six games of the season, six points behind the league leaders Fiorentina and Inter Milan.
