Edin Dzeko scores twice in preseason debut for Roma

Edin Dzeko scored twice on his first appearance for Roma as the Italian side beat Sevilla 6-4 in an eventful friendly at the Stadio Olmpico on Friday night.

Dzeko, who joined Roma on loan from Manchester City this week, needed less than four minutes to open his account for the club when he got in behind the Sevilla defence before driving an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net.

Vasilis Torosidis made it 2-0 four minutes later before Dzeko added his second in the 42nd minute with a tap-in into an empty net following a slick Roma move on the edge of the area.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina striker then turned provider as Radja Nainggolan made it 4-0 just before the break and then goals from Mohamed Salah and captain Francesco Totti, from the penalty spot, saw Roma leading 6-0 after 63 minutes.

Europa League winners Sevilla, who lost 5-4 to Barcelona after extra-time in a thrilling UEFA Super Cup on Tuesday, salvaged some pride in the closing stages as they pulled four goals back through two goals from Denis Suarez and one each from Jose Antonio Reyes and Coke.

Also on Friday, Fiorentina cruised past Lucchese 3-0 thanks to goals from Gonzalo Rodriguez, Ante Rebic and Joaquin.

Napoli's scoreline was even more lopsided as they beat Latina 5-0 despite being held goalless at half-time.

Marek Hamsik opened the scoring in the 52nd minute before Omar El Kaddouri scored twice in two minutes to make it 3-0.

Manolo Gabbiadini made it four late on and a stoppage-time Jorginho penalty completed the rout.

Iago Aspas scored twice as Celta Vigo defeated Genoa 4-0, Pablo Hernandez and John Guidetti also on the scoresheet for the Spanish side.

In the battle for the Carranza Trophy, Atletico Madrid defeated hosts Cadiz 4-2 on penalties following a goalless draw.

Atletico will next face Real Betis for the trophy after they edged Granada 2-1 with Francisco Portillo's 89th-minute winner.

Youssef El Arabi scored first for Granada, but Ruben Castro equalised after half-time. A red card to Alfred N'Diaye in stoppage time came too late for the hosts to take advantage.
