AC Milan coach Fiippo Inzaghi 'carrying on,' awaits decision over his future

Filippo Inzaghi is refusing to resign as he waits to find out if he still has a future as AC Milan coach with Cristian Brocchi waiting in the wings.

Milan's 3-1 defeat at home to Genoa -- the first time the Rossoneri lost at the San Siro to Il Grifone in 47 years -- has further increased the pressure on the 41-year-old, whose side are languishing in 10th place, eight points behind the top five.

Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has taken the night to assess his coach's position and an announcement is due at any time on Thursday, but Inzaghi has vowed to fight on.

"It's the way I was throughout my whole playing career -- I'm not one to give up," Inzaghi told Sky Sport Italia. "We'll just have to wait and see what the club's decision is, but I'm carrying on.

"No matter what happens, I will always have Milan in my heart. I've been here for a lifetime and I'm quite serene about the whole thing. I always try my best, but this is the tough life of being a coach. If I'm given the opportunity, then I will try to end this season with dignity."

Brocchi, who assumed Inzaghi's position as coach of the club's youth team following his promotion to the first team last summer, has been placed on alert by general manager Adriano Galliani to step in for the final five games of the season, should it be decided to sever ties with Inzaghi straight away.

However, Berlusconi had other things on his mind on Wednesday night as he welcomed Bee Taechaubol into his Arcore residence for discussions over a proposed sale of the club to the Thai investor.

The pair reportedly watched the match on television with Taechaubol leaving shortly after the final whistle having reportedly offered Berlusconi €500 million for his majority holding in the club, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Fans in the Curva Sud arranging themselves to form the word "Basta" ("Enough") throughout Wednesday night's clash, sending a message to Berlusconi as Milan slipped closer to hitting their lowest point in his near 30-year reign.

His, the club's and the coach's future are all set to be resolved soon while the players spent another night in their Milanello training camp in preparation for Sunday night's trip to Napoli -- potentially their first game since 1986 without Berlusconi, and the first in 14 years without Inzaghi being part of the club.
