Roberto Mancini takes the blame as Inter fail to defeat Parma

Roberto Mancini was at a loss for an explanation but took the blame after Inter drew 1-1 with bankrupt bottom-side Parma.

Fredy Guarin gave the hosts the lead in the 25th minute, but Andi Lila levelled just before half-time. But Inter left the San Siro to a deafening chorus of boos from the home fans after failing to find a winner.

Mancini accepted responsibility for again failing to beat Parma -- who also beat Inter 2-0 in November.

Roberto Mancini said he must "take responsibility for this situation" after Inter's 1-1 draw with Parma.

"I am the coach and therefore I am the one who must ultimately take responsibility for this situation," he said on Sky Sport Italia.

"Evidently it's my fault, as I am unable to explain properly to the team what I want from them. They are doing all they can in the circumstances."

As a result of the draw, Inter will train on Easter Sunday after Mancini cancelled their day off.

"We had worked well in training, we knew it was an important game and a tough one if we didn't take the right approach," he said.

"We had scored and started brightly, but were sluggish and didn't have the determination that is necessary at this level. We lacked grit and aggression.

"The season hadn't started well, but of course taking over is a risk. It's Inter and I couldn't turn them down. I am sorry that the situation has got worse instead of improving, but I am the coach and I take responsibility.

"We had many players who returned from international duty on Wednesday and Thursday, but we'd been talking about this match for a week, so that's no excuse."

Inter dropped into 10th place as their European hopes continued to dim.

"There are years when things don't go right and that's the case at Inter. Next season? At times you need a revolution to turn the tide."
