Arturo Vidal says fitness issues in past after playing in Chile friendly

Arturo Vidal has insisted his knee is "100 percent" after playing the full 90 minutes of Chile's international friendly with Mexico on Saturday.

Juventus midfielder Vidal underwent an operation on his knee in May and there had been fears he had suffered a setback during training with the national side this week after he was seen holding an ice bag against his knee, with Chilean media reporting that he received physiotherapy and treatment.

However, he took to Twitter ahead of the Mexico match to insist his knee was "perfect" and asked the media to stop "inventing" stories.

The 27-year-old then played the full match as Chile drew 0-0 with El Tri and he told reporters afterwards that his knee was "100 percent recovered," adding: "I had a good preseason and I'm happy. I'm content because I proved I can play a full match without problems."

Sources told ESPN FC during the summer that Manchester United had been reluctant to sanction a big-money deal for Vidal due to concerns over the state of his knee.
