Udinese, Torino, Carpi advance to Coppa Italia fourth round

Udinese progressed to the fourth round of the Coppa Italia with a 3-1 defeat of Novara at the recently-renovated Stadio Friuli.

Playing for the first-time in their new-look stadium, Udinese led 2-0 at half-time thanks to goals from Guilherme and Cyril Thereau.

Daniele Buzzegoli responded with a free-kick for Novara but, within two minutes, Duvan Zapata was setting up fellow debutant Edenilson for the Brazilian to score the hosts' third goal.

Torino also progressed, at the expense of Pescara in a 4-1 home victory.

Pescara took a 17th-minute lead when Torino goalkeeper Salvador Ichazo conceded an own goal.

Daniele Baselli equalised 10 minutes later, however, before Afriyie Acquah, in the 33rd minute, Maxi Lopez, in the 67th minute and, in the 73rd minute, Josef Martinez scored Torino's remaining three goals.

Sunday's third Coppa Italia fixture between Carpi and Livorno, went to extra-time before hosts Carpi won 2-0.

Winger Ryder Matos gave Carpi the lead in the 107th minute before securing victory with his second, seven minutes later. His team-mate Simone Romagnoli was sent off in the 120th minute.
