Bologna sent packing by Pavia in Coppa Italia third round

Newly promoted Serie A side Bologna were the big upset on Friday night in the Coppa Italia third round as they were beaten 1-0 by Lega Pro outfit Pavia.

Stefano Del Sante was the hero for Pavia, as he provided the game's only goal on 35 minutes, while there was further misery for Bologna with defender Alex Ferrari shown a red card in first-half stoppage time.

In the night's other fixture, Crotone sneaked through with a 1-0 win over fellow Serie B side Ternana to go into the fourth round, as Brazilian Claiton did the honours in the 41st minute with the goal.
