Inter Milan's Luciano Spalletti fined €10,000 for 'offensive' outburst toward referee

Inter Milan coach Luciano Spalletti has been fined €10,000 and been publicly warned by Lega Serie A for an outburst toward the referee after the 1-0 loss to Sassuolo in the opener on Saturday.

Spalletti was sanctioned for using "extremely offensive language" toward Maurizio Mariani at the Mapei Stadium, which Sassuolo won through a penalty by Domenico Berardi in the 27th minute.

It was the first time since 2009 that a team coached by Spalletti has lost its season opener, but it was the fourth consecutive victory for Sassuolo over Inter.

The league also gave Torino coach Walter Mazzari a yellow card and issued a warning for encroaching the pitch and protesting a decision made by referee Marco Di Bello in the 81st minute of a 1-0 defeat against Roma on Saturday.
