Inter Milan forward Gabigol hails 'new chapter' after first goal for new club

Gabriel "Gabigol" Barbosa dedicated his first Serie A goal to his family and Inter Milan's fans and said it was "just the beginning."

Gabigol, 20, who cost €30 million from Santos last summer, opened his account in Sunday's 1-0 win at Bologna.

The strike came almost 20 years after a Ronaldo also scored his first Inter goal at the Stadio Dell'Ara.

"This is the start of a new story for me now," Barbosa told Brazilian reporters in Bologna, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported.

"This is just the beginning. I am never going to forget this afternoon in Bologna.

"I came here to make history and I never let my head drop. I waited, worked hard, professionally, because I knew that my chance would come to make people know who I am."

He said he felt he was "getting better and better" as he continued to settle into life at Inter.

And he added: "I feel stronger, faster and more Italian. Everybody is helping me, giving me advice, and it's fantastic to be able to play with people I used to only see on video games.

"I'm delighted. I dedicate this day to my family and to the fans."

Gabigol said he would also thank his teammates by "inviting them all for a carbonara."

And he looked ahead to the next challenge at home to Roma next Sunday, saying: "We expect the San Siro to be sold out. It's going to be tough, but we want the points."
