Inter coach Stefano Pioli 'not bothered' by Diego Simeone speculation

Stefano Pioli has said he intends to coach Inter Milan for many years to come, amid speculation that Diego Simeone could replace him in 2018.

Atletico Madrid coach Simeone said once again this week that he will coach the Nerazzurri one day, but Pioli insisted he was not bothered by the Argentinian's claim.

"I'm coach of this club and he's coach of Atletico," Pioli told Sky Sport. "I think each of us needs to keep focused on our own jobs. I am determined and keen to do well."

Pioli added that Simeone's comments will not be a distraction for him or his team, who face Sparta Prague in the Europa League on Thursday night having already been eliminated from the competition.

"Simeone's words did not bother me at all -- you are just asking questions about rumours that you have created," he said. "Simeone just expressed his desire and you also should know my desire, not just his, and that is to remain at Inter for as long as possible.

"This is a big club with big players and great potential. Furthermore, the owners are making me feel their support and faith and they are delighted with the work me and my staff are doing."

Pioli has won one, drawn one and lost one of his three Serie A games in charge of Inter, also losing 3-2 to Hapoel Beer-Sheva in the Europa League -- a result which condemned his side to elimination with a game to spare.

They are currently 10th in the Serie A standings, 11 points adrift of the top three.
