Inter's Gary Medel gets three-game ban for elbowing Atalanta's Kurtic

Inter Milan midfielder Gary Medel has landed a three-game Serie A suspension for elbowing Atalanta's Jasmin Kurtic.

The Chile international was not booked for thrusting his left arm into Kurtic's face in the 39th minute of Inter's 2-1 defeat at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia as match officials did not notice the incident.

However, a league statement said a disciplinary panel had seen fit to impose a retrospective ban on the former Cardiff player, who will now miss games against Torino, Sampdoria and Crotone.

The statement said the league "acquired and and examined TV images" and "considered it clear from these images that Medel, with the ball not in playable distance, struck Kurtic with a violently to the face with his left arm, with a sudden and voluntary gesture."

Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini was handed one-match touchline ban for insulting refereed Daniele Doveri, for which he was sent to the stands.

Meanwhile, Napoli forward Manolo Gabbiadini was given a two-match ban for "seriously unsportsmanlike conduct" after kicking Crotone's Gian Marco Ferrari
