Mauro Icardi: Inter Milan fans' complaints haven't bothered me

Mauro Icardi says supporters' whistles are not affecting him as he ended a month-long goal-scoring drought to earn Inter Milan a 1-0 victory against Chievo on Wednesday.

Icardi's last goal had come on Jan. 6, with Roberto Mancini's men failing to win a game between then and the defeat of Chievo at the San Siro.

His goal came just days after his penalty miss with Inter 1-0 down in a derby they went on to lose 3-0 to AC Milan, with the Argentine being made scapegoat by some of the club's fans.

He hit the woodwork again on Wednesday, before eventually going on to find the back of the net for Inter.

"The important thing is we've won three points," Icardi is quoted as saying by Gazzetta dello Sport. "We played well and created plenty of chances, but their goalkeeper was excellent.

"One goal is enough, and I'm fine with that. I was unlucky with the penalty against Milan because I struck it well and hit the post. But this doesn't erase anything from my past, and I don't hear the whistles either.

"People like me here and it's only right that they want more from you when you are not playing well."

Icardi's strike moved him onto nine goals for the season, four of which have been worth three points for Inter.

"Mauro's always scored his goals and he always will do," Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio said. "He's got a good record for his age, even if he is lagging a bit behind his average this year."
