Roberto Mancini: Inter 'boring' jibe no problem if we follow Man City title path

Roberto Mancini does not mind if people find his Inter side "boring," saying he was given the same reputation at Manchester City before going on to win the Premier League title.

The Nerazzurri are currently top of Serie A after winning their first four matches. However, three of those wins have been 1-0 with the other a 2-1 victory, and it is the Milanese club's efficiency over their entertainment which has caught the eye.

But Mancini says he will have no concerns at all if Inter can follow the path of City, who he began coaching in December 2009 before leading to title-winning success in 2012.

"The same things were being said at the start of my time at City," Mancini said at a news conference. "I just hope things go the same way now as they did then. Ever since 1982 people have been saying that the team at the top of the table play boring football.

"We're fine about it. We just need to stay where we are in the league. All that matters is that we are winning our games."

Inter host Hellas Verona on Wednesday night looking to maintain their advantage at the top of the standings ahead of three tricky fixtures against Fiorentina, Sampdoria and Juventus.

"There's no such thing as an easy win," Mancini said. "We saw that against Carpi and against Chievo. You've always got to be fully focused and it's going to be like that against Verona too. We're going to need to be 110 percent to get the three points.

"We are Inter and we've got to aim for the best all the time. Of course we hoped to start the season well so that we could work in peace and quiet and to see what this side is capable of doing. We need to do much more than what we've done so see us through to the end, though.

"We signed 10 new players because we were lacking in certain positions and we needed to improve. You can't have a perfect, complete side after just four matches, but winning does give you serenity and belief in yourself."
