Pressure of San Siro weighs on Inter Milan squad in Juventus loss - Mancini

Roberto Mancini admits the pressure of performing at the San Siro is weighing down his Inter Milan players after Saturday's 2-1 home defeat by Juventus.

Inter went 1-0 up courtesy of a Mauro Icardi strike after nine minutes, though Claudio Marchisio levelled from the penalty spot three minutes from half-time for Serie A champions Juve.

Alvaro Morata continued his fine goal-scoring form for the Bianconeri with the winner seven minutes from time, and Mancini says that Inter -- who have lost five league games at home this season -- must look to turn their home ground into a fortress once again to realise their ambitions.

Asked whether the problems were tactical or psychological, Mancini told Sky Sport Italia: "San Siro weighs on us a bit too much and we have to work on that, as San Siro is our home, so we need to make it into a strength and not a weakness.

"We played truly well in the first half and should've gone 2-0 or 3-0 up. Instead, in my view, we failed to make the most of that pressure.

"After the break we conceded on a ball we got wrong. I thought we played better than Juve, but that's not enough in a game like this, as you need good luck too.

"Yuto Nagatomo created a lot down the left when he came on and we did have the chances to score more goals.

"It's difficult, but as I said a few weeks ago that won't change our future. We are building for the future, this team needs experienced players who can raise the quality level of the squad.

"Above all, experienced champions help the younger players to grow and slowly improve in every area.

"Juventus are stronger, but it's not such a clear gap. I think if we do things the right way, the gap can close up."

Juve's spot-kick came from Nemanja Vidic fouling Alessandro Matri following a backpass from Gary Medel, and then Samir Handanovic did his chances of a summer move little good by allowing Morata's shot to squirm past him.

Inter midfielder Mateo Kovacic believes the Nerazzurri gifted Juve the win, saying: "This defeat hurts, because we had overall a good game and then made too many mistakes.

"We concede goals like children and that is our problem. It's difficult to explain the reasons behind this loss. Our heads are still steaming because it just ended.

"We didn't have the right determination to finish off the game when leading in the first half, while Juventus are a team of winners and naturally fought back.

"We do seem to struggle at San Siro and have dropped a lot of points here. We have to give more on home turf."

Of the first goal, Mancini added: "Vidic could've been a bit more careful, but these things happen."
