Hernanes dedicates Inter goals to Lazio president Lotito for 'hurtful' talk

Inter Milan midfielder Hernanes dedicated his goals against his former club Lazio on Sunday to their president Claudio Lotito, who he was delighted to get one over at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Brazilian grabbed both goals in a 2-1 away win to boost Inter's hopes of qualifying for Europe next season and dent Lazio's hopes of qualifying automatically for the Champions League, and he did not hold back with his celebrations.

The acrobatic somersault that Hernanes defined as "the saddest of my life" drew the ire of his former fans, but he explained afterwards that it was not intended to be disrespectful towards them, but towards their president.

"This was a special game for me," Hernanes told Sky Sport Italia. "I was desperate to do well in it because Inter fans had been stopping me on the street and telling me that I've not been playing as well for Inter as I had for Lazio.

"But I feel I am in form now and when I wasn't playing a month ago, Lotito was talking a bit too much. I did this for him because I want to see if he changes his mind now.

"He said that selling me was a great bit of business. I didn't take that well. You've always got to show respect. I may be nicknamed 'The Prophet', but I'm only human, full of pride and passion. I felt hurt by Lotito."

The Lazio president in turn felt hurt by the referee, who he blamed for a defeat which leaves his side a point behind city rivals Roma in the race for second place a fortnight ahead of the potentially decisive Eternal City derby.

"For me, this [referee] should be sent home," Lotito was overheard screaming from inside the tunnel, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. "He ruined a beautiful game of football."

He left his sporting director Igli Tare to do the rest of the talking for him when he met reporters after the match.

"I don't usually talk about referees, but I can't not do so this time," Tare said. "A referee like this jeopardises all the hard work of a team and a club. It's not the brightest of ideas to send a young referee like [Davide] Massa for such an important game.

"I know it's not a good time to talk, but this is a big year for us. All we are asking for is respect, which Lazio deserve.

"Before coming to talk to you, I checked with our video analyst about a few of the incidents in this game. Inter's first goal should have been ruled out for offside and I've got big doubts over [Federico] Marchetti's red card and Inter's penalty.

"[Mauro] Icardi's fall was not natural. I'd also like to see again whether [Antonio] Candreva really was offside when he was put through by Felipe Anderson.

"It wasn't a good night for the refereeing team. They did not officiate this game correctly."
