Inter Milan were naive against Celtic, Roberto Mancini says

Inter Milan coach Roberto Mancini said his side still have a lot to learn after being held to a 3-3 draw by Celtic in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

The Nerazzurri let a two-goal lead slip and then conceded a last-gasp equaliser having regained the advantage, and Mancini lamented their naivety.

"At 2-0 up, we thought the game was over and we started playing around," Mancini said. "That's the wrong attitude and we've still got to mature in this respect."

Nevertheless, the 50-year-old was pleased to come away with a result which keeps the Serie A side as favourites to reach the last 16.

"We continue to make mistakes, but we came here to impose ourselves on the game and we did that, so that's positive," the former Manchester City manager told Mediaset.

"Against sides like these, and at places like this, if you sit so far back, you are bound to concede sooner or later.

"Considering how things were, then we've got to have some regrets, but getting a 3-3 draw in Glasgow is not bad."

Mancini made some unexpected changes to his team, leaving out Mateo Kovacic while Marcelo Brozovic was ineligible.

He add: "Without a doubt Brozovic has different characteristics to our other midfielders, but [Zdravko] Kuzmanovic had a great game, even if he suffered a bit from tiredness at the end.

"Mateo is a fundamental player for us, but today I preferred to make other choices from the start. He will have plenty of chances in the weeks to come to show how important he is to the side in the role he plays."

Inter host Celtic at the San Siro next Thursday as one of four Italian sides going into the second legs of their Europa League ties all square.

Fiorentina drew 1-1 at Tottenham Hotspur, Torino were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Athletic Bilbao and Roma could only manage a 1-1 draw at home to Feyenoord.
