'Livid' Roberto Mancini blasts Inter Milan for second-half no-show

Inter Milan coach Roberto Mancini said he was "absolutely livid" with his team's second-half performance after the 2-1 loss at home to Udinese on Sunday.

Former Manchester City coach Mancini has seen his side lose their last two games after starting his second spell at Inter with a 1-1 draw in the Milan derby last month.

His side's first-half performance, capped by a Mauro Icardi goal, suggested they were back on the right track -- but they lost their way after the break.

"I'm absolutely livid with this defeat," Mancini told Sky Sport Italia.

"I don't want to point the finger at anybody in particular, but when you concede goals you've got to react. We should have carried on playing the way we were doing in the first half, but we didn't manage to.

"I don't think it's down to tiredness, but we need to understand how things can change. I don't know if it is because of the goal that we became demoralised. A single goal can't change all this. A real team do not beat themselves up about conceding just one goal.

"I'm delighted with the first half -- but that doesn't matter one bit."

Inter's defeat leaves them behind Sassuolo and Palermo and five points adrift of the top six.

They started the season with hopes of finishing in the top three and qualifying for the Champions League next season -- an objective Mancini reaffirmed on his arrival -- but now have a battle on their hands to repeat last season's fifth-placed finish.

"We're not a great team and we've got to recognise this," midfielder Mateo Kovacic admitted.

"I think we're a good team, but we're not showing it now. We're making too many mistakes. At the moment, we're not good enough for the top three."
