Inter Milan keeper Samir Handanovic: We need to improve physically

Mazzarri: Fatigue affecting us (1:01)

Inter head coach Walter Mazzarri insists that his side are suffering from fatigue, after they laboured to a 2-0 UEFA Europa League win over FK Qarabag on Thursday. (1:01)

Samir Handanovic has admitted there is a problem at Inter Milan as pressure mounts on coach Walter Mazzarri going into this weekend's clash with his former club Napoli.

Inter have slipped to 10th after falling to heavy back-to-back defeats to Cagliari and Fiorentina and while their Slovenian goalkeeper says they have the potential to qualify for the Champions League, he also says they cannot hide from the fact something is not right.

"Our squad is not inferior to those who are challenging for third place," he told Sky Sport Italia.

"Only recently, we've not been showing our true value. Something's wrong and it's pointless trying to hide it. We need to improve physically and, that way, we will also improve psychologically because both are linked.

"But we can't think everything can be put right overnight."

Whether Mazzarri will be given time to put the house in order -- and avoid what would be the first sacking of his coaching career -- remains to be seen with rumours abound that former Manchester United manager David Moyes is being considered to replace him.

According to Italy's Mediaset television, Moyes is already in Italy and set to take in Inter's Europa League clash with Saint-Etienne on Thursday night, though only as a spectator.

"We just want to lift ourselves up as soon as possible," Handanovic added.

"They've got a very strong attack, but I'm not having sleepless nights about that because all of the attacks in Serie A are talented. It's going to be crucial how we approach the game."

For now, Mazzarri continues to enjoy the full faith of club president Erick Thohir, who will be at the San Siro on Sunday night.

Even defeat to Napoli should not knock that confidence, unless the problems Handanovic is talking about prove irreconcilable, and involve the 53-year-old coach.
