Germany down to fifth in FIFA World Ranking, Argentina now top

The new FIFA World Ranking sees Argentina take over from Belgium at the top, while world champions Germany slip down to fifth and Copa America winners Chile move up to third -- the highest they have ever been.

Colombia have moved up to fourth place but Spain are down to sixth, just ahead of Brazil and Portugal. England slip to 10th with Uruguay jumping above them into the top 10 at the expense of 11th placed Austria.

Turkey (13th) took a leap of seven places, while Mexico (16th) also jumped up six to go behind Italy (15th). Euro 2016 hosts France did not quite do enough to break into the top 20 as they sit in 21st spot, and Costa Rica move up eight places to 25th -- behind Wales who plummeted seven spots to 24th.

The United States went above Republic of Ireland to joint 29th with Czech Republic.

Australia jumped 17 spots to make it into the top 50 but Nigeria, who failed to qualify for the 2017 African Nations Cup tournament, slipped five spots to 67th as Morocco climbed an incredible 17 places to 64th.
