Sheikh Salman Bin Ebrahim Al-Khalifa is poised to serve a second term as president of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

Al-Khalifa is currently the only candidate for the presidency and for the FIFA vice-president ex-officio position, the AFC announced on Wednesday.

The Bahraini first took office in 2013, replacing Mohamed Bin Hammam.

Bin Hammam was forced to resign from the post in December 2012 and was subsequently banned from all football activities for life by FIFA following an investigation into violations of its code of ethics.

Al-Khalifa's election for a second term is set to go unchallenged when the AFC meets for its Ordinary Congress in Bahrain on April 30.
