Ivory Coast-Senegal friendly abandoned after pitch invasion

A friendly between Ivory Coast and Senegal was abandoned in the 88th minute on Monday after dozens of people invaded the pitch.

The game at the Charlety Stadium in Paris was level at 1-1 when a group was seen climbing over fences to enter the ground.

Trouble began in the stands before spilling onto the pitch, where Senegal's Lamine Gassama was tackled to the ground.

Referee Tony Chapron told the players to return to their dressing rooms before officially calling off the game.

Liverpool's Sadio Mane had opened the scoring for Senegal with a penalty midway through the second half, but Bi Gohi Cyriac equalised for Ivory Coast three minutes later.

In 2012, an African Nations Cup qualifier between the two sides was also abandoned after a riot in Dakar.
