Australia to face Brazil in friendly at the MCG in June 2017

Australia will meet football powerhouse Brazil at the MCG in June in the lead-up to the Confederations Cup.

The Socceroos will meet Brazil on June 13 in a friendly, with the South American giants in Melbourne for a blockbuster clash with Argentina four days earlier.

Australia will be coming off a World Cup qualification match against Saudi Arabia on June 8.

Brazil have no shortage of world superstars, with Neymar, Philippe Coutinho, Oscar and Dani Alves expected to draw thousands through the gates.

Australia were handed a football lesson in their last meeting with the world No. 2 side in 2013 when Brazil won 6-0 in Brasilia. The result contributed to former coach Holger Osieck's sacking by Football Federation Australia the same year.

Australia are expected to fly to Russia the day after the Brazil clash for their Confederations Cup campaign, beginning in Sochi on June 19 where the task does not get any easier against world champions Germany.

Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou will hold a news conference at 9am AEDT in Melbourne on Thursday.
