Mario Gomez is set to start for Germany in their friendly at home to England on Saturday, Joachim Low has confirmed.
Fiorentina striker Gomez, currently on loan at Besiktas, had fallen out of favour under Low and missed the 2014 World Cup after struggling with injury, but he played the full 90 minutes of Germany's 2-0 friendly loss to France in November.
With Low having sent Max Kruse home on Monday, former Bayern Munich star Gomez is due to pick up his 62nd cap in Berlin when Roy Hodgson's England visit.
"We watched Mario in Turkey," Low said. "He has noticeably more self-belief, we see that in every training session. It's also visible in his body language.
"He is scoring regularly in the league, and I was impressed with his performance in France too. I plan to start him from the beginning tomorrow -- he deserves it after his performances in training in the last few days."
Meanwhile, Besiktas owner Fikret Orman has said the Turkish club plan to keep Gomez next season.
After two disappointing, injury-hit seasons with Fiorentina, Gomez was loaned out to the Turkish club for two years last summer. That agreement can be revised in the summer, with Fiorentina able to bring the 30-year-old back to Italy, but that does not look likely.
"Mario Gomez is going to stay on loan at Besiktas next season too," Orman said, according to calcionews24.
Gomez has scored 19 goals in 26 league games for Besiktas, having found the back of the net just 14 times in 47 games for the Viola.
Those goals have helped fire Besiktas to the top of the table, four points clear of their nearest rivals Fenerbahce and on course for Champions League qualification.
"He's going to be our club's leader in the Champions League," Orman added. "We are all delighted with how this agreement has worked out."
