Germany confirmed six players will miss Netherlands friendly

Six Germany players, including Jerome Boateng, Manuel Neuer and Bastian Schweinsteiger, have returned to their clubs ahead of Tuesday's friendly with Netherlands in Hannover.

Germany had announced prior to Friday's game in France that Bayern Munich stars Neuer and Boateng would be rested and there had been indications that Joachim Low would allow several other members of his squad to miss the meeting with the Dutch.

Schweinsteiger, the team captain, will return to Manchester United and Lukas Podolski will head back to Galatasaray, while Schalke's Leroy Sane joins up with the under-21 squad as planned and Cologne's Jonas Hector is out through injury.

Boateng also picked up a minor injury in theĀ 2-0 defeat to France.

The German FA (DFB) announced on Sunday that the friendly with Netherlands would go ahead despite the terror attacks in Paris on Friday, when the national team spent the night in the dressing room after the Stade de France had been targeted.

Joint acting DFB president Reinhard Rauball said the decision to play the match was "a necessary step," saying: "The message is clear -- we will not be intimidated by terror."

The Germany players are due to reunite in Hannover on Monday after having been allowed home upon their return to Frankfurt on Saturday.
