Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard gets first England call-up

Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard has been called into the England squad for Tuesday's Wembley friendly against France.

The match will go ahead despite the Paris terror attacks on Friday in which more than 120 people were killed, the French Football Federation (FFF) has said.

Lingard, 22, will join up with the squad on Sunday to bolster Roy Hodgson's ranks after United teammate Michael Carrick and Leicester's Jamie Vardy were ruled out by injury.

He wrote on his Instagram page: "Delighted to be called up to the England senior squad. It's always an honour to wear the shirt."

Midfielder Carrick was carried off in the last minute of England's 2-0 defeat in Spain on Friday. He has returned to his club and will not be available for England's final game of the year.

Meanwhile, Vardy -- who sat out the game in Alicante with a knock suffered in Leicester's Premier League encounter with Watford last weekend -- will also miss the France game.

England returned from Spain on Saturday and, as planned, Hodgson's squad dispersed for 24 hours shortly after landing on home soil. They will regroup at their Hertfordshire base on Sunday evening.

It will be Lingard's first time with the senior squad, although the former Birmingham and Brighton loanee has made 11 appearances for the under-21s.

He made his debut at U21 level as a substitute against Scotland when Hodgson took charge of the team in August 2013.
