Defensive Howler helps Ukraine beat Georgia in friendly

A defensive howler gave Ukraine a lead and they held on for a 2-1 win against Georgia in a friendly in Austria on Tuesday.

In the 57th minute, left-back Lasha Dvali passed back to his goalkeeper, but the ball slipped past Giorgi Loria and bounced off the far post right into the path of Artem Kravets to open the scoring.

Yevhen Konoplyanka, a widely pursued transfer target, doubled their advantage by getting his foot to a cross in the 67th minute.

Mate Vatsadze scored on a spectacular diving header in the 81st minute but Georgia could not find an equaliser.

Ats Purje scored once in each half as Estonia came away with a 2-0 win in Finland.

His first goal just trickled under Finland keeper Nikki Maenpaa, while his second was a powerful header from the centre of the box.

European minnows Luxembourg and Moldova played out a goalless draw at the Stade Josy Barthel.

Cameroon and DR Congo battled to a 1-1 draw in Belgium.

Jordan Botaka opened the scoring for DR Congo in the 12th minute, and Lyon defender Henri Bedimo equalised shortly before half-time.

Gambia's Omar Jagne cancelled out Robert Sentongo's opener for hosts Uganda in a 1-1 draw.
