Clint Dempsey, five other MLS veterans join U.S. squad

Clint Dempsey is among six additions to the United States squad ahead of their friendly against Honduras on Tuesday (8 p.m. ET, ESPN/WatchESPN).

U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann added six veteran MLS players who were unavailable to face Ecuador on Friday because of commitments to their clubs.

Dempsey is joined by midfielders Michael Bradley, Jermaine Jones and Graham Zusi, as well as defender Matt Besler and goalkeeper Sean Johnson.

Friday's game was the final appearance in a U.S. shirt for Landon Donovan, who will retire at the end of this season.

Joe Gyau is being evaluated after spraining his knee against Ecuador and will return to Borussia Dortmund in Germany for treatment.

Also returning to their clubs are defenders John Brooks, Omar Gonzalez, midfielder Luis Gil and goalkeeper Brad Guzan.
