Sylvano Comvalius snubs Felda United to sign with Thailand's Suphanburi

Dutch striker Sylvano Comvalius has made the switch from Bali United to Suphanburi FC in the Thai League (T1) after ending the 2017 campaign as Liga 1's top scorer.

Confirmation of the move to Thailand ends Malaysia Super League club Felda United's pursuit of one of Southeast Asia's most sought-after players.

Comvalius revealed the news on his Instagram account, playing up the potential of the side he is joining.

"For the next two years I will be playing in Thailand where I signed a contract with Thai Premier League club @suphanburifc!!!! I'm really looking forward to start my task at the club which has a lot of potential and 1 of the best facilities in SE Asia," Comvalius told his Instagram followers.

Comvalius made a huge impact in his one season in Indonesia as his 37 goals powered Bali to within a whisker of this year's league title.

Bali lost out to Bhayangkara United on the head-to-head rule, having finished level on points. However, rather than stay on and make another attempt -- while also playing in the AFC Champions League qualifier -- Comvalius has chosen to pursue an opportunity in Southeast Asia's top league.

Suphanburi have decided to start afresh with a new foreign contingent, as last year's overseas players all move on. And Comvalius makes for an eye-catching signing given his exploits in Indonesia this year.

Suphanburi have seen their fortunes dip in the last two years, with a third-placed finish in 2015 following by disappointing placings of 10th and 11th in T1.

Average crowds have also fallen dramatically along with the club's fortunes. All eyes will now be on the Dutchman as the club attempts to turn the War Elephant back into contenders for the top five at the very least.

Comvalius is a well-travelled striker, and Thailand will become the 10th country of his nomadic career. As well as playing in his native Holland and Indonesia, he had a spell in China's third tier with Shijiazhuang Ever Bright F.C. (then known as Fujian Smart Hero) in 2012.

Suphanburi will be hoping that he can bring his scoring touch to their club to help re-establish themselves as one of the top teams in the country following two years of decline.
