Kerala went on to lose the game 1-0 by an injury-time strike by Mohammad Rafique, who now plays for them.

The number of points Mumbai City FC have after their first four matches of 2016 is still their best start in all of ISL history. Their best before this has been four points last year, and three in 2014. In 2015, they won their fifth and sixth matches of the season to temporarily go top of the table.

There are only three Indian goalscorers -- Jayesh Rane, Arata Izumi and Mehrajuddin Wadoo -- thus far in this year's ISL, which is the poorest return for any of the seasons at the same stage. In 2014, there were four Indian scorers (Balwant Singh, Subhash Singh, Cavin Lobo and Baljit Sahni had scored five goals among themselves) after 13 matches, while the corresponding figure for 2015 was seven (Jeje Lalpekhlua, Mohammad Rafi, Israil Gurung, Robin Singh, Arata, Keenan Almeida and Mandar Rao Desai had contributed nine goals).

The first goal of the season scored by Kerala Blasters has always come from a foreign player. It was Iain Hume who scored in a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Chennaiyin in 2014, Josu Currias who opened the account against NorthEast United in a 3-1 win last year, and Chopra in a 1-0 win over Kerala this time.
