Hertha Berlin defender John Brooks set to miss RB Leipzig showdown

United States international John Brooks is set to miss a second consecutive match when Hertha Berlin travel to RB Leipzig at the weekend.

Brooks, 23, was rested for Hertha's first home defeat of the season against strugglers Werder Bremen last weekend following Achilles tendon and back problems.

And Hertha coach Pal Dardai told reporters at Berlin's training ground on Tuesday: "As thing stand, he will not make it [for the Leipzig match]."

Local blog immerhertha.de reported that Brooks was also struggling with "muscular problems radiating from the thigh region."

The defender has suffered from several minor injuries this season, and Dardai said: "It is better John rests for one match and is fit again after that. Just imagine that we risk something and he is then sidelined for six weeks."

Third-placed Hertha remain hopeful that defender Sebastian Langkamp, 28, who pulled a muscle in the Bremen defeat, can return against second-placed Leipzig.
