U.S. defender John Brooks misses Hertha game against Hannover

United States international defender John Brooks will miss a second consecutive Bundesliga match for Hertha Berlin with a knee problem, coach Pal Dardai has confirmed.

Brooks, 23, who missed Hertha's 5-0 defeat at Borussia Monchengladbach last weekend, has also been ruled out of the game against bottom club Hannover on Friday.

"He was playing really well recently, but we did not go down 5-0 at Gladbach because he wasn't playing," Dardai said on Tuesday, confirming that the player would miss the Hannover game on Wednesday.

Brooks travelled to the join the U.S. national team as they prepared for their World Cup qualifier in Guatemala despite having taken a knock in the previous Bundesliga match against Ingolstadt.

He did not play in the Guatemala match, and returned to his home town of Berlin at the weekend before the return match against Guatemala because of the injury problem, when a shinbone bruise and an oedema were diagnosed.

Hertha are third in the Bundesliga and hold a three-point lead on chasers Borussia Monchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen going into the final six matches of the season.
