PAOK docked six points, AEK Athens fined after Greek Cup violence

The Greek football association has punished PAOK and AEK Athens after supporter violence marred last month's Greek Cup final.

The association's disciplinary committee has ruled that PAOK will lose six points from next season's league tally, play seven home games behind closed doors and pay a fine of €282,500.

AEK have been fined €170,000 and ordered to play three home games behind closed doors.

AEK will therefore play in the qualifying rounds of the Champions League.

More than 40 people were hurt in the violence, two of them seriously, police said on Saturday.

The game was delayed by around half an hour after fighting began when AEK and PAOK fans, who were supposed to be separated, met on a footbridge outside the stadium that was not policed.

Violence lasted for about 30 minutes before riot police, using stun grenades and chemicals, intervened.
