UEFA investigating Olympiakos match-fixing allegations

Evangelos Marinakis, centre, has been linked to a push to buy Nottingham Forest.

European football's governing body UEFA is investigating the Greek match-fixing allegations surrounding the man who is trying to buy Nottingham Forest, Olympiakos owner Evangelos Marinakis.

Marinakis denies the charges and in a statement published on the Olympiakos website claimed public prosecutor Stamatis Daskalopoulos was biased against the perennial Greek champions and the case was politically motivated.

Alan Pulido joins Chivas Guadalajara from Olympiakos

Alan Pulido is officially returning to Liga MX.

Striker Alan Pulido's controversial stint in Europe is over, with Liga MX club Chivas announcing he will join them from Olympiakos.

"The Mexican forward will strengthen Guadalajara's squad for the Apertura 2016," read the statement from Chivas.

Joleon Lescott joins AEK Athens from Aston Villa on two-year contract

Joleon Lescott made 30 appearances for Aston Villa last season as they were relegated.

Joleon Lescott has left Aston Villa and joined AEK Athens on a two-year deal, the Greek Superleague club have announced.

Lescott, 34, joined Villa last summer, making 30 Premier League appearances as the club were relegated to the Championship.

The former England international won the Premier League twice with Manchester City, but had not featured for Villa this campaign under new manager Roberto Di Matteo.

Out-of-favour Chelsea winger Marko Marin has joined Olympiakos in a permanent deal.

Greek Super League delayed at least two weeks over fears of violence

The Greek league suffered from fan violence last season.

Greece's sports minister has postponed the start of top-tier league matches for more than two weeks because of fears of violence.

The Greek championship had been due to start on Saturday but Stavros Kontonis said it would be delayed until "at least" Sept. 5.
