Incredible miss from Kozanis' Thanasis Takidis in Greek lower leagues

There's a good chance you missed last weekend's clash between Makedonikos Kozanis and Vatera in the regional fourth tier of Greek football.

Thankfully, there was but one notable highlight -- a truly amazing miss from Kozanis striker Thanasis Takidis.

Indeed, having picked the goalkeeper's pocket, our friend Thanasis still somehow failed to hit the back of the net despite finding himself less than 30cm out from a completely vacant goal.

Andrea Stramaccioni sacked as manager of Panathinaikos

Andrea Stramaccioni is out at Panathinaikos after a year in charge.

Greek giants Panathinaikos have fired coach Andrea Stramaccioni following a series of disappointing results.

The 40-year-old Italian was dismissed after a meeting on Wednesday with the club's chairman -- a day after Panathinaikos lost 2-1 to second-division club OFI in the Greek Cup.

The former Manchester City and Aston Villa defender joined the Greek club on August 29 but, after playing just four games, suffered a knee injury which was expected to sideline him for up to six months.

A brief tweet from the club on Thursday read: "AEK FC and Joleon Lescott mutual...

Chelsea new favourites to sign AIK striker Alexander Isak - source

Alexander Isak could be moving closer to a switch to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have moved ahead of Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus in the race to sign AIK attacker Alexander Isak, a source close to the Swedish club has told ESPN FC.

The source said Chelsea had tabled a firm bid for the 17-year-old and were now considered favourites to land him.

"PSG have been in contact with AIK numerous times but there is no offer on the table right now," the source said.

"Inside the club, Chelsea are the favourites and have already proposed €11 million."

Paul Mariner addresses the latest from the rumour mill, which includes talks of Virgil van Dijk departing Southampton.
Jurgen Klinsmann's not-so-memorable stats flood Twitter, meanwhile Zlatan is getting a statue built in his honour.

Last week, sources...
