Granada interim manager Tony Adams says he "will not go away" after failing to keep his side in the top flight this season.
The former England and Arsenal captain has lost all five games since being installed as interim first team coach by Granada's Chinese owner John Jiang, who Adams admitted had also been learning a lot during his first campaign in Spanish football.
Following the 4-0 defeat to title favourites Real Madrid on Saturday, Adams said: "It will be nice to have my own team one day. But that is not why I'm here. My job is to come in, clean, build and then come back and check.
"The owner paid €37 million for the club [last summer] and more than anybody did not want team to be relegated. He took the advice of the wrong people and has said mistakes were made, a sporting director and two coaches lost their jobs over that.
"Since November he has decided to leave it to me, and build properly. If I get it wrong, then he can come and see me. I will not go away. We admit the mistakes of the past, but we refuse to make them again."
Adams said that his team's first-half performance against Madrid had been "unacceptable," but he felt they had regained some pride in the scoreless second period.
"The first half was not acceptable for me, words were spoken and the second half I was quite proud of how they dug in," Adams said. "Real Madrid are at a completely different level, it is not ideal to play them when you are already relegated, especially with their reserve players buzzing to come in.
"We are inexperienced, and we gave it to them too easily in the first half, which disappointed me. They are young players and will make mistakes, and against teams like Real Madrid it is a very steep learning curve."
