Coach Lucas Alcaraz returns to Granada for third spell in charge

Lucas Alcaraz is returning to Granada to embark on a third stint as coach, the La Liga club have announced.

Granada parted company with Paco Jemez last week after a poor start to the campaign saw them collect only two points from their opening six games to sit 20th in the table.

A statement said: "Granada has reached a preliminary agreement with Lucas Alcaraz to become the new coach of the team until the end of the season."

Alcaraz, 50, began his coaching career at Granada 21 years ago and led the club to two top-four finishes in Spain's third division during a three-year spell.

He went on to work at numerous other clubs including Recreativo Huelva, who he led to promotion to La Liga in 2002 after a 23-year absence.

Alcaraz returned to Granada in January 2013 and helped them maintain their La Liga status before departing in the summer of 2014, moving on to Levante.

His first game in charge back at Granada will be against La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid at the Calderon on Oct. 15.
