Jose Gonzalez replaces Jose Ramon Sandoval as Granada coach

Former Albacete and Cordoba coach Jose Gonzalez has replaced Jose Ramon Sandoval as Granada boss.

Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Valencia at Los Carmenes was a fourth on the spin in the Primera Division and left Granada rooted to the bottom of the table, where they are four points from safety, prompting Sandoval's dismissal on Monday night.

The 47-year-old had managed to keep the Andalusians in La Liga last season but the club's board have now opted to hand the reins to Jose Gonzalez until the end of the season.

A statement published on Granada's official website thanked Sandoval for his achievements and wished him luck in his future projects, before introducing his successor.

Jose Gonzalez is the former manager of Albacete, Cadiz, Cordoba and Murcia. He most recently worked as Gregorio Manzano's assistant at Beijing Guoan and will be unveiled on Tuesday afternoon.
