We are on course for quarterfinals - Kerr

Gor Mahia head coach Dylan Kerr believes his team is on course to reach the quarterfinals of the CAF Confederation Cup, following their 4-0 win over Young Africans FC on Wednesday.

A brace from Ephraim Guikan, a Jacques Tuyisenge goal and an own goal by Mwinyi Hajji handed the Kenyans a much-needed Group D win at the Kasarani Stadium.

"Two draws and one big win with the boys playing well puts us in a good position. We are on course for the quarterfinals," Kerr told KweséESPN on Wednesday.

"I am happy that the boys did not allow the recent problems in the club to affect them and they simply played football and made the fans happy.

"This was fantastic football. Our target remains getting to the quarterfinal stage of the CAF Confederation Cup. We had a fantastic attitude and the boys delivered. I hope we can be in good form in the next games.

"I know my team has the capability to perform better than this because we have been creating many scoring opportunities. We want to try and go get another win away in Tanzania against the same Young Africans team later this month."

The two teams will clash again on in the return fixture on 28 July at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Wednesday's result moves Gor Mahia to five points, second on the group table and two points adrift of USM Algers, who won 2-1 against Rwanda's Rayon Sport at Nyamirambo Stadium in the other match in the group.
