Aduana Stars claim Ghana League title
Sam Adams scored the decisive goal from the penalty spot late in the game after Rashid Alhassan had cancelled out Benjamin Tweneboah's opener for the visitors.
The result in Dormaa -- along with WAFA's -21 loss in Cape Coast against Ebuasua Dwarfs -- gives Stars a seven-point advantage going into the final round of matches.
It earns them their second League title in eight years after they won their first the same year they joined the Ghana Premier League in the 2009/10 season.
Sunday's results capped off a season-long battle for top spot between Aduana and WAFA, which in the end has been decided by the significant experience of the new champions.
With the destination of the title sorted, the focus on the final day will be on the last two relegation spots after both Great Olympics and Tema Youth won to take it to the last day.
As many as eight teams could fill those two final spots, but it is the likes of Bechem United, Liberty Professionals, AshantiGold, Great Olympics and Tema Youth most at risk.
Christopher Nettey's goal for Great Olympics in a 1-0 win has given the Accra club one more shot at survival, while dragging four-time champions AshantiGold into the final day survival battle.
Tema Youth have also given themselves a glimmer of hope thanks to Ekow Benson's late penalty which earned them a 2-1 win at home to Bechem, who must now win their final game of the season to preserve their top-flight status.
Inter Allies greatly enhanced their survival bid with a 2-1 win over Liberty Professionals in Accra, while Medeama avoided the relegation scrap on the final day thanks to Francis Addo's winner against Accra Hearts of Oak, who are guaranteed a top three finish.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko held unto fourth place after Saddick Adams' goal gave them all three points against Berekum Chelsea. The Porcupine Warriors will now seek to hold off Wa All Stars, who are behind them in fifth place after the dethroned champions beat relegated Bolga All Stars 6-1 at home.
Kweku Asuandzie scored four of those goals with the other two from David Abanga.
