Asante Kotoko stumble again as Karela United run continues

Kumasi Asante Kotoko suffered a second loss in four days as new boys Karela United claimed another big scalp at their Anyinase home in the Ghana Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors, who suffered a 1-0 reverse against arch-rivals Accra Hearts of Oak in Kumasi on Sunday, lost 3-1 at Karela United.

Moro Ibrahim opened the scoring for Karela before Burkinabe Sonnie Yacouba scored his first goal for Kotoko to draw them level.
However, Karela, unbeaten in 65 home matches across Division One and the Ghana Premier League, were back front through Ismail Ganiyu before Maxwell Baako secured maximum points.

Karela have now beaten both Hearts and Kotoko during that amazing home run, and are now third in the Ghana Premier League as their run shows no sign of ending.

The story is markedly different for Asante Kotoko, who have now fallen six points behind leaders Ashanti Gold after their second straight loss.

The league leaders were back to winning ways in midweek with Latif Anabila's goal midway through the second half.

WAFA have climbed up to fourth after their third win on the road this term, away at Berekum Chelsea.

They were in front after only three minutes courtesy of Francis Debrah's own goal, which was cancelled out 15 minutes later by Evans Obeng's equalizer.

WAFA's Charles Boateng then popped up with his fifth of the season to claim all three points.

Accra Hearts of Oak were involved in a rare goalless draw in Cape Coast against Liberty Professionals to remain eighth, with their opponents just above the bottom three.

There was drama in the league's other fixtures, with eleven goals in two games.

There were six goals in the game between Bechem United and Elmina Sharks plus one dismissal as the duo played out a thrilling 3-3 draw.

Sharks were 3-0 up after an hour with a brace from Benjamin Tweneboah sandwiched between Felix Addo's effort.

However, Bechem stormed back with Adama Diabate pulling one back on 68 minutes, and Sharks were then reduced to ten men when Emmanuel Ampiah was sent off.

Bechem made the most of that numerical advantage with two goals in the final three minutes from Hafiz Wontah.

Dreams FC also needed a late goal to beat Inter Allies in Dawu.

Victorien Adebayor scored twice for Allies to give them a 2-1 advantage, before Leonard Akoto scored on 87 minutes and then from the penalty spot five minutes into injury time.
