Ghana Premier League postponed indefinitely

The Ghana Premier League will not be kicking off this weekend as intended after the Professional League Board again postponed the start date for the new season.

In a statement released by the organising body on Wednesday, they confirmed that the already revised start date of Sunday March 4th was being pushed back.

"Please be informed that matchday one of the 2017/2018 has been postponed to a new date to be announced later," read the statement, signed by Ismail Amin Gado, Deputy General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association.

Last week, the Accra High Court dismissed a first writ served by Great Olympics to the FA to halt the start of the league, but the club have again issued another injunction.

Olympics remain adamant that Bechem United deserve punishment after using a disqualified player for their Matchday 7 fixture against Elima Sharks, and are seeing justice in relation to the offence.

The two parties had originally convened in court on February 13, before the case was adjourned for eight days.

According to My Joy Online, sponsors StarTimes and NASCO have both revealed special ahead of this year's league, with the former announcing their intention to broadcast more GPL games this season.
