Kotoko confirm Steve Polack for second round

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have turned to Steve Polack in a bid arrest their recent alarming slide in form.

The Englishman, who has been in charge of Berekum Chelsea in the Ghana top-flight, will take charge of the record Ghana Premier League champions for the second half of the season after reaching an agreement with the Kotoko board.

He is due to watch their league game from the stands on Sunday but will only take full charge from acting coach Frempong Manso for the second half of the season.

The official Kotoko website said his mandate will be to "restore the waned confidence of the players, bring back enthusiasm in their organisation and play while winning and largely reviving Kotoko's fortunes in the league".

Kotoko's form has dipped badly in recent weeks especially after the sacking of the Croatian Zdravko Logarusic following five wins and two losses in eleven games.

Since then, the Porcupine Warriors have not won in seven games and picked up only three points from a possible 21 while dropping to eighth on the league standings.

Kotoko will be the third Ghanaian club the Birmingham-born defender has managed since 2007.

Polack, who spent much of his football career in Finland, has had two spells with Berekum Chelsea after first managing King Faisal.
