Ghana manager Avram Grant has been "ordered" to return to the country by the nation's football association ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations Cup qualifiers this month, rather than spending time in the UK where he appears as a pundit on Sky Sports.

Parliamentarian Kojo Baah Agyemang, went as far as to say to a local radio station Grant had been "taking the nation for granted," by spending an unacceptable amount of time out of the country.

"We have ordered him to return from Europe to monitor the local league," said GFA spokesman Ibrahim Sannie, with the GFA adding that Grant should be watching local football matches to unearth talent rather than acting as a pundit on Sky Sports.

Ghana will play Mozambique in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on March 24 and March 27

"The matches against Mozambique are approaching and we need him," Sannie said.

Previous managers of African national sides to be criticised for spending too much time in Europe have argued it is easier to monitor Ghanaian players such as Chelsea left-back Baba Rahman and Leicester City's Daniel Amartey, who play in European leagues.

Grant took over as Ghana coach in late 2014, leading the team to a place in the African Cup of Nations final in 2015, which they eventually lost to the Ivory Coast on penalties.
