Avram Grant confirmed as new Ghana coach

Former Chelsea manager Avram Grant has been named coach of Ghana.

Grant, 54, has agreed a two-year deal with the Black Stars, which takes effect on Dec. 1, the Ghana Football Association announced on its official website on Thursday.

"All outstanding issues with Mr Grant have been cleared and we believe he is the right man for the job,"  GFA president Kwesi Nyantakyi said.

Grant replaces Maxwell Konadu, who had been in temporary charge since Kwesi Appiah left in September following the World Cup.

The appointment marks Grant's second term as an international boss, having previously coached his native Israel between 2002 and 2006. He has only six weeks to prepare the team for the 2015 African Nations Cup in Equatorial Guinea.

Grant also had stints in charge of Portsmouth and West Ham in England after being sacked by Chelsea in 2008, and was most recently at the helm of Serbian club Partizan Belgrade, who he guided to the league title before resigning in May 2012.
