Getafe name Juan Esnaider as coach to replace Fran Escriba

Getafe have named Juan Esnaider as their new coach until the end of the season, ahead of their home match against Real Madrid this weekend.

Esnaider, 43, takes over the reins from Fran Escriba, who was dismissed on Monday night with the club deep in relegation trouble in the Primera Division.

Getafe are currently second-bottom after picking up just two points from their last 12 matches and, with six games to go, are two points adrift of Granada and safety.

Former Real Madrid, Juventus and Argentina striker Esnaider is the man tasked with trying to prolong the club's 12-year stay in the top flight.

A statement on the club website read: "Juan Eduardo Esnaider will be the new Getafe coach until the end of the season. He was already part of the club's coaching staff in the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons.''

Esnaider, who was previously assistant to Michel at Getafe and has coached Real Zaragoza B and Cordoba, will be presented by the club at 13.00 CET on Wednesday following training.
