Leroy Sane has vowed to "bounce back stronger" following his shock omission from Germany's World Cup squad and wished his teammates all the best for the tournament.
Manchester City forward Sane, the Premier League's Young Player of the Year, was left out of Germany's squad on Monday, with Bayer Leverkusen's Julian Brandt beating him to a World Cup place.
On Monday, the 22-year-old former Schalke player returned to his parents' home in Bochum, and on Tuesday wrote on Twitter that he would "bounce back."
"I'm obviously disappointed I won't participate in the World Cup," he wrote. "But I have to accept this decision and I'll give it my all to bounce back stronger."
Sane, capped 12 times by Germany so far, added: "Nothing but the best of success to the DFB team in Russia. Go get that title."

While Germany head coach Joachim Low was criticised for omitting Sane in the UK, he was backed by large sections of the German media.
However, former Aston Villa and Germany midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger, now working as a pundit, told SID: "Sane for me is a player who can make the difference, who has pace and courage, who has what it takes to win crucial games."
