Joachim Low: Germany's victory over Northern Ireland was 'fairly effortless'

Germany coach Joachim Low said his side's 2-0 win over Northern Ireland in Tuesday's World Cup qualifier was a "fairly effortless victory."

Early goals from Julian Draxler and Sami Khedira in Hanover earned Die Mannschaft a third straight win to maintain their 100 percent record.

Low earned his 94th victory in charge of the national team, a landmark that brings him level with Sepp Herberger for the most of all time.

"The main thing is that we got six points from these two games and did not concede any goals," Low said.

"This was a fairly effortless victory, we took an early lead and took our foot of the accelerator somewhat.

"Northern Ireland defended pretty deep, it almost seemed like a 9-0-1 formation at times. It was a very deserved victory and we just have to keep on winning.

"I have just told my team before these games they have to reach a stability and they have to play relentlessly throughout these qualifiers and take no prisoners and ensure qualification as quickly as possible."

Low did find some room for improvement after Northern Ireland responded after conceding with a good period before half-time.

"We had to defend a few one-on-ones in the final 15 minutes of the first half and that was rather dangerous," Low added.

"Our transition from attack to defence was a bit too slow sometimes. We were a bit careless on occasions."
