Germany forward Thomas Muller not worried about Euro 2016 goal drought

Germany forward Thomas Muller has insisted he is not worried about his Euro 2016 goal drought.

Muller has endured a difficult tournament so far with the Bayern Munich attacker still yet to find the net despite playing in all five of Germany's games so far.

"It doesn't kill me," Muller said at Germany's news conference. "I was the top scorer at the 2010 World Cup, but we lost the semifinal against Spain in which I was suspended as well. We won the World Cup in Brazil, and I was not the top scorer."

"Goals are not the gas in my tank, they are the paint on the car to make it look better. My gas is my hunger for success.

"We came here as world champions, and it's pretty extraordinary to win back-to-back titles although Spain have only recently achieved it."

Germany are now just two wins away from following Spain's trend of winning two tournaments in a row.

However, they now come up against host nation France in the semifinal and Muller believes the pressure is on them, rather than Germany.

"It's fun to play against the hosts," he added. "France are under a bit of pressure as the hosts, and they know they will be up against an excellent team and really, you follow the Euro for games like that."

Germany will be without a number of key players for the game with Sami Khedira and Mario Gomez ruled out, Mats Hummels suspended and captain Bastian Schweinsteiger, who trained individually on Tuesday, a major doubt.

"There will always be injuries, and suspensions," he added. "You have to offset it as a team. I believe it's a chance for those coming in now."

France have been impressive in attack at this tournament so far, with Antoine Griezmann, Dimitri Payet and Olivier Giroud leading the way for the hosts, but Muller reiterated that Germany do not "fear" France.

"That's not the prevailing mood in our squad," he said. "France have a lot of good individuals, but Iceland didn't look that great as team trying to defend the goals.

"We have to defend well as a team, to not allow those players to get into dangerous situations."

However, despite his insistence that Iceland made France look better than they actually were in their 5-2 quarterfinal win, teammate Manuel Neuer had more praise for the attacking aspect of Les Bleus' game.

"Giroud is a very dangerous player in the box, he's strong with the headers, can keep the ball, and is physical," Neuer said. "But I rather look at all of their attacking department. They just have a lot of quality.

"Antoine Griezmann is a great counter attacking player as well, he is also a very good player in the one-on-one situations against the keeper. And he has shown that is very dangerous with his headers in the box."

France and Germany battle it out for a place in the final on Thursday July 7.
