German FA blasted for 'Hollywood' half-time show at DFB Pokal final

The German FA (DFB) has been criticised for the "Hollywood" style half-time show at the DFB-Pokal final.

The show featured German singer Helene Fischer, who was jeered by sections of the crowd at Borussia Dortmund's 2-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt.

Frankfurt sporting director Fredi Bobic said: "Helene Fischer has no place at a cup final," and some commentators said the show was another symbol of the commercialisation of football.

Bobic added: "We play football, and real fans of football don't want Hollywood during the half-time break."

Another Frankfurt executive, Axel Hellmann, urged the DFB to "think about how to be closer to the people at a cup final."

Fans of both clubs chanted anti-DFB slogans, while a banner in the Dortmund end announced a "war on the DFB."

Meanwhile, the organisation's general secretary Friedrich Curtius announced that an investigation would be launched into the use of pyrotechnics by both sets of supporters.

"We will review the incidents with the security authorities and the sporting jurisdiction will consider necessary sanctions," Curtius was quoted as saying by German news wire SID.

"It's totally unacceptable that those anarchists abuse the cup final, something many spectators look forward to, as their stage and put the civilised fans, families and children at ask with the use of pyrotechnics."
